How the Mind Invents a Thinker

Imagine yourself thinking these thoughts

Each sentence is simply a thought-text appearing in awareness — no different than clouds passing through the sky.

If you look casually, it seems like:

Thoughts 1–3 are “you thinking about Jacob,”

and Thought 4 is “you deciding” what to do.

But let’s observe the actual mechanics.

Thoughts are not "You"

Thought 1 appears: It contains the word “I,” so it feels like 'you' are reflecting.

Thought 2 appears: It contains the word “Jacob,” so there is a relationship is playing out.

Thought 3 appears: It gives emotional context — again impersonating a thinker.

Thought 4 appears: Because it starts with “I should…”, it feels like 'you' made a decision.

If you pay attention, there are just thoughts, arising spontaneously, one after the other. There is no thinker separate or between them.
